End-of-year tests, also for Boris Yeltsin!

End-of-year tests for the readers of the children's magazine 'Klap', but also for Boris Yeltsin,
the elections were just around the corner! Would he make it? Should he remain president or not?
Exciting! Not just for him, the whole world was watching!

This time I got 2 assignments at once from the children's magazine.
This one for the last issue of the school year and also the one for the first issue of the following school year,
as you can see at the bottom of my phone notes...

(But more on that next time. Now it's Yeltsin's turn.)

The likeness is already there, but I'm still not sure whether I want a decor or not...

I don't know the Russian alphabet, so I had to look for it.
In those days I had no internet, so I had to look elsewhere,
in the library for example...

The perspective of the floor first accurately captured...

... the rest could then be further constructed...

A quick color test with colored pencil on a photocopy 50 percent
to make me feel more confident...

... before starting with the final version in watercolor on sturdy Steinbach paper 250gr/m² in A4 format...

And printed in 'Klap'. But the result didn't really make me happy this time, it was printed way too light for my taste!
(And that's why I switched to gouache paint a few months later. You can go much darker with that.)
